Per-employee severance documents with exact figures

People Plan calculates each employee's severance entitlement based on your policy and generates individual, addressed documents with exact figures and all required statutory language — ready for attorney review before distribution.

Calculation policy types

Four ways to structure severance. One configuration.

Simple formula

Weeks of severance per year of service, with a configurable minimum and maximum cap.

e.g. 2 weeks per year, minimum 4 weeks, maximum 26 weeks

Tenure brackets

A lookup table assigning fixed severance amounts based on length of service ranges.

e.g. 0–24 months = 4 weeks, 24–60 months = 8 weeks, 60+ months = 16 weeks

Role-based

Job title pattern matching with wildcard support. Different roles receive different formulas or salary multiples.

e.g. Directors receive 1× monthly salary per year; individual contributors receive the standard formula

Hybrid

A base formula (simple or bracket) with a multiplier applied on top, supporting more nuanced severance structures.

e.g. standard tenure-bracket amount × 1.5× for employees with a non-solicitation obligation

How People Plan handles it

Exact figures. Every employee. Ready for counsel.

1

Policy configuration, applied automatically

You define a severance policy once — using any of the four calculation types — and the platform applies it to every selected employee automatically. The result for each employee is an exact figure, not a range or estimate.

2

All components calculated per employee

Each document includes base severance, COBRA continuation cost where applicable, PTO payout based on accrued balance, and WARN pay if a WARN Act violation has been identified. Every figure is employee-specific.

3

All required statutory language included

For employees aged 40 or over, severance documents include all ADEA and OWBPA waiver language — consideration requirements, revocation rights, and the mandatory disclosures. The documents also include calculated signature deadlines specific to each employee.

4

Built for attorney review, not a replacement for it

Every document includes a disclosure that it is designed for legal review before distribution. The platform tracks an attorney-reviewed status per scenario. Outside counsel can access documents directly via a token link, add comments, suggest revisions to individual documents, and submit a formal review decision — without requiring a People Plan account.

What each employee document contains

Employee name, role, and termination date
Base severance amount (exact figure)
COBRA continuation cost where applicable
PTO payout based on accrued balance
WARN pay if a notice violation was identified
ADEA and OWBPA waiver language (for employees 40+)
Consideration and revocation rights disclosure
Calculated signature deadlines (21 or 45-day window)
Attorney review disclosure

People Plan generates severance documents for attorney review — it is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. Severance requirements vary by state and by employee circumstances. Always have qualified employment counsel review severance agreements before distribution.
